With my luck, fixes aren't EVER this easy, but I figured if it's broken, why not rip it apart and take a look.

Much to my surprise, the orange cover came off fairly easily (only minor plastic cracking) and, voila, an OBVIOUS break in one of the solder joints (HOW does that happen in the first place???!!!)

After heating for 5 minutes with my whimpy soldering iron and a little shot of extra solder for good measure....IT WORKS again!!!!

I feel like I won the lottery!!!!! These quick fixes NEVER work for me!!!

Ah well, I guess we all are due at least one easy break a lifetime.

Thanks to all for your advice!!
