Last summer I leased a 2000 base 9-5 5-speed with premium package, heated and ventilated seats in silver/black (new non-loaner). My lease is $360/month with taxes and I put about $1500 down. I think that was a pretty good deal considering its cheaper than leasing a Toyota Camry, and the sticker is rought 15k more. My advise is to go to as many dealers as possible, and tell each dealer that you are shopping other Saab dealers. Get a printout of the lease details from each dealer, use it at the next, etc. It's amazing how each will undercut the others until you get to a point where they are taking a loss on the car. At that time Saab was running special incentives on the 5-speed cars to move them off the lots, so that definately helped. Considering maintence is included in these cars, and insurance is relatively low for a sporty/luxury car, I feel they are a great leasing value. I leased in CT, you can probably get a better deal anywhere in the NE where Saabs are big and volume is high.
As for color, I really like the car in Silver. I like the way that the black trim and tires contrast with the silver car and wheels. After coming off of a string of black Volvo's, silver is a joy to take care of. Chips and swirls are very well hidden, and a little rain doesn't ruin a weekly wash. I can usually put off washing the car by just cleaning the wheels every couple days and the car looks great.. but I really enjoy washing it. Granted black looks amazing when it's in the showroom, but very difficult to maintain in the real world.
Besides that, it can be proven with a little differential calculus that silver cars are fastest... :-)
Just my $.02
