Safety Glass? Posted by Andy [Email] (#759) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andy) on Mon, 2 Apr 2001 01:09:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A week ago a Chevy Suburban rear-ended my 2000 9-5 wagon hard as I was stopped in stop and go traffic; he tried to swerve around me, hit a car in the next lane and still caught about the left 1.5 feet of my car (of course, he was too high to hit the bumper so he hit me in the tailgate instead). The rear window and the left rear window both shattered into pieces as small as about 1/4 inch and sprayed into the car as far as the rear seat (fortunately my 4-month old babies were not in their rear-facing car seats at the time, because their car seats caught a lot of glass). So here's my question: is it only windshields that have a sandwiched plastic piece to keep broken glass together? The amount and dispersion of glass in this accident was really disturbing. The only bright spots to this accident (my car's in the shop for the next month with a minimum of $6000 in damage) are that the other guy's insurance is covering every thing and that the Suburban was towed while I drove away! (he was damaged on both sides but just from hitting my Saab his fender was so heavily damaged the tire could not be turned)
