Yeah, I heard the same thing from my SAAB dealer when negotiating for a new 9-5 two weeks ago. They must keep demos in service 2 months, and up to 4 months to get the allowance. Between 2 and 4 months, it is pro rated.
That said, I picked up a 9-5 with metallic paint, premium package, auto transmission, but otherwise "stock" (no heated or ventilated seats, no cd-changer, no other "stuff") with a cap cost of $33,930, plus bank fee, ya-da-ya-da bringing the adjusted capitalized cost to $34,674.50, residual of $15,846.75, based upon 18,000 annual miles, 36 months. $738.81 at delivery, $576.32 per month (at 6% state tax). The 18,000 miles obviously makes these payments higher than for others who only need 12,000 or 15,000, but perhaps this info might be helpful for someone else.
BTW, I "walked" on my first salesman, called the dealership, demanded to speak with a manager, and went back and dealt directly with the manager from then on. He sat me in front of his terminal as he typed in all the figures, so I saw the lease factor, etc., as we went. Moral -- do not deal with the stupid sales guy who "has to speak with my manager." You don't need a middleman.
Just my humble opinion. Love my Saab (my first).
