I've had a closer look:
The fire extinguisher is placed on a metal bracket which is fixed to the bottom of the glove compartment (this would be the bare metal Bryce mentioned that looked as if it could be opened).
It holds 1 kg of powder and has SAAB written on it in big letters.
Whether it's factory or dealer installed I don't know - but it should be mentioned that the instructions were in French and Dutch (my Aero is an IDS model bought through the Belgian importer). This could indicate that it's dealer installed; although SAAB could have these bottles lying about in a multitude of languages everything else in my IDS car (incl. the owner's manual) was in English. Well, almost ... the first aid kit is also French/Dutch; perhaps the dealer also installed that.
Perhaps these things are only installed where it's a legal requirement - but they should still be available from your dealer.
Regards,
Caspar
