You indicated that some of the failures have been with High Output lamps. The High Output models sacrifice considerable lamp life in exchange for greater illumination. They will always fail quicker.

Like others have said, don't touch the galss portion of the bulb when changing lamps. Residual oil left on the lamp (fingerprints) will result in hot spots on the glass envelope and cause failure - although I think it is failure of the envelope itself (rupture, not early burn out).

This is a problem that plagues individual cars. Since the H7 lamp's life is extremely sensitive to minute changes in voltage, as litle as 0.1 volt, you may want to have your voltage regulator examined. If your car's output voltage is only slightly high it will result in significantly reduced lamp life.

Another option is use of Long Life lamps. These sacrifice illumination to gain longer life. If your voltage is high the use of these lamps MAY result in normal illumination levels and normal lamp life. Unfortunately, they cost twice as much as a standard H7 and are difficult to find.

My car initially had problems with short lamp life, particularly on the driver's side. I am convinced it was caused by the voltage issue (longer wire harness going to passenger side, hence greater voltage drop to that lamp). At 3+ years old and 81,000 miles the problem seems to have disappeared. Your problem could get better by itself, but I know how frustrating it is.
