is very awkward. Even if you negotiate a flat fee over cost, say $500 over wouldn't be unreasonable, the dealer still has to smog, safety and recondition the car to minimum standards to protect his dealer license, which he has no control over. A car that doesn't need anything in the service drive might still need $1,000's to be resold, maybe not, but that would be the exception. Most state laws provide for the dealer to warranty the car for 30 days for at least smog and safety issues. You'd have to have a very special relationship with a wholesaler to make this kind of an arrangement work. Too much trust involved to be practical. The wholesaler can't force you to buy the car after he acquires it. Hmmmm....
