Yea, the torque converter lock up clutch is realy quite active in the 9-5. if you count gear changes as you go up from a stop youll note that what you are feeling or noticing isnt a gear change. it is indeed the torque converter unlocking for acceleration. i dont understand why this is done, in fact i dislike it greatly. i find that using winter mode for crusing greatly de-sensitizes the torque converter clutch. this is so you dont suddenly change the torque to the front wheels in slippery conditons, which could cause a hazard. give it a try.... just make sure you leave winter mode at the light(or any stop)... that is unless you like your atf fluid 'well done' i cant even immagine how brutal wintermode is to the tranny... with that 3rd gear start and kick down to first from third..... ouch
