You need to be very suspicious of wheel cleaners. Many are very agressive. Even if they say "No harsh acids" on the lable, they have harsh alkaline components that are just as bad for your precious wheels.
There are some safe cleaners. Make sure that the one you pick is approved by the wheel manufacturer. As an example, Griot's Garage sells their "house blend" wheel cleaner which is approved by BBS Wheels.
Any of them are really a last resort if conventional car wash solutions don't work. They are hard on the wax, so that's not too good. Frequent rinsing with a garden hose between washes works. Or you may consider replacing the pads with Mintex Red Box or EBC Greenstuff to reduce the dust accumulation.
