Why shouldn't they? The car is broken in and should be able to handle it.
Most places let you push a car. Every BMW dealer I went to they kept proding to push it harder in a turn. I will never forget the time I took a test drive in 1994 with an Acura sales guy testing a Integra RSX? (it was 170 hp or so Integra). The Sales guy was driving and went thru the gears like a madman and jumped (yes jumped) some railroad tracks and then stomped the brakes to show me the breaking power. I was in shock. He then gave me the keys and said you try - this car is unbelievable. I didn't bite. Wouldn't want to by that demo car! Guy wasn't that young either.
I guess I just get the right sales guys. I usually find the no nonsense ones to deal with. If I get an idiot asking me what I want my payment to be I will hang up and call back to get someone normal.
So - I am not BSing you - I will caveat by stating I have never done this with a new car for obvious reasons. These are usually used sales guys - A different breed. Heck at 31 I am older than most of them. The last one just turned to me and asked - do you get a lot of tickets? What kind of radar do you use? I almost always tell them that I do this to check boost and look for bad vibrations. They will let you do it if your serious about the car and there is no harm to the car unless there is something to hide.
