I bought an 02 aero w/auto in sept02. Have had very minor problems, but all fixed quickly by dealer under warranty. It helps to know how good your service department will be!
1. Stitching in leather seats separating (11k miles). Restitched...good as new.
2. Water pump leak (3k miles). Found at first TechII service and replaced.
3. Vibration at idle (10k miles). Improved with software update.
These were all minor and repaired easily. The enjoyment of driving my aero far overrides any small problems. Only weak spots I have found are cupholders, lack of cd changer, and no auto up windows/sunroof.
You will find 9-5s to be very reliable overall. Also safe, smooth, exclusive, and unbelievably fun to drive. Best car I have ever owned.
I only have 14k miles, so I can't speak for more long-term problems, but you will not regret your purchase!
Good luck!
