The arrows and the bogey counter are very helpful, especially for discerning falses on X band.
Also, the arrows and bogey counter are invaluable in this situation:
---
You're driving 70 mph, and your detector goes off, so you slow down to 55.
You soon see a cop on the shoulder with his lights on, he's already pulled somebody over. You pass him, and the beeping from your detector lessens... confident you're in the clear, you resume a cruising speed of 70 mph. But then a cop flies by on the opposite side of the highway with his radar on (your radar detector beeps more intensely as this happens, but it's too late), and you soon see a cop up ahead on the shoulder, waving you over.
An ordinary radar detector's mere beeping wouldn't be enough to alert you to this type of scenario (a friend was nailed exactly like this on I-95 in NJ, he was using an ordinary detector... I was riding shotgun and observed the whole thing firsthand)
But with the V1, as you first approach, the bogey counter will say "2" and the forward arrow will be lit. When you pass the first cop, it'll still say "2", but now the forward AND rear arrows will be lit. That means there's still a threat up ahead, and you know it's not safe to resume 70. No ticket.
Once you try the V1 and see it in action you'll never go back... sorta like cable modem vs dialup :-)
