First, some corrections. If you look at the Saab brochure at any dealer, they compare the torque curves on the same page. The Aero has much more low end torque and it gets it sooner (258lb/ft @1900rpm Vs. 220somethinglb/ft @ 2500rpm.
You just have to drive both. I took the Aero out for about a 15-20 minute test drive. Then I drove the Arc....after 5 minutes I told the salesman I have seen enough and drove it back. You, like myself and many others need to get over the usual notion of 6cyl. Vs. 4cyl. When you have a high boost turbo, all that goes out the window.
Just drive them both. You will know pretty quickly which one is for you. They are worlds apart. I bought the '03 Aero four months ago and can't wait to drive it every day. It is a steal with the rebates.
