It is fairly creamy. I suspect you used too much. Youi can always do more than one application. I have used the Lexol products for years on boots and saddles as well as cars. They are excellent. Meguires Gold Class Leather Cleaner and Conditioner is a relatively new product. I am impressed with it as a conditioner but still prefer Lexol as a cleaner, hence the two step.
