MP3 player connection to stock stereo

I thought I'd re-ask this question since it's been a while since the last post I saw.
Has anyone figured out a creative way to connect an MP3 player *elegantly* to the stock stereo? I use the word "elegantly" because cassette tape adapters and FM transmitters stink. I am looking for some sort of a direct connect with my iPod, which doesn't leave a lot of wires hanging around. Maybe it would leverage the existing wiring for the CD changer?
Has anyone pulled it off? Ideas?
Thanks,
Sieglo
