1) It is done with the Tech II Computer. This plugs into the connection point that is located above the accelerator.
2) The Tech II Software must be Revision 3.7 or higher. As Saab is now up to Rev 4.3, this should not be a problem. If your dealer doesn't have at least Rev 3.7, then I'd wonder.
3) The real problem dealers are having with this is that the switch for the Upshift light is not located on the most logical menu screen. The Upshift light switch is NOT on the menu for the Main Instrument Unit (MIU), which is where you'd expect it to be, rather it is located on the Engine Trionic menu. Just go to the Trionic menu, and there it is, shut if off.
4) While you're at it, there are an amazing number of other options you can change, such as your alarm and door locking sequences, beeps, volume, lights, etc.; your headlights/fog lights/parking lights; windshield wipers; and on and on. It was nice to disable the nagging chime that gongs out when you have the door open with the key in the lock so that the radio will play.
5) I have a 2 page "9-5 Saab Programming Quick Reference Guide" listing many things that can be programmed. It is far from complete but it is useful. I would be glad to post it here if someone will tell me how to post attachments.
