I was told that my Aero 17 inch wheel and tire _will_ fit back there, but the little parcel shelf will have to be removed (obviously) and the cargo floor will neither lay quite flat, nor latch.
If you would like to carry a full sized spare, I would recommend a cheap steel wheel with a narrow tire the same diameter as your existing tires. It would still look strange on the car, but at least the car would ride level, and you would not be limited to 50 mph.
