The level of wind noise on my '01 Aero Wagon is very high, and comes primarily from the front doors. It is exceptionally bad on blustery days.
Having had an '00 Audi A4 Avant, which is almost completely silent, I cannot understand why Saab has been unable to do a better job with wind noise. The difference in wind noise between these two cars is dramatic. (This is also true of engine noise. The Audi is a remarkably quiet car.)
I have noticed that the triangular plastic face plate (about 3"x4"x5") that covers up where the side-view mirror attaches to the door is a poor fit - the top seems to curl outward leaving a 1/16" to 1/8" gap at the point, and I wonder if this is a primary source of turbulence. (This is true on both front doors). I've scanned other 9-5s at dealer lots, and most seem to have the same condition. I've toyed with ideas of how to fill this gap or to make the cover fit better, but other than complaining, I have not come up with anything.
