There is _no_ valid reason for that guy to deny this simple programming change. Saying that "everybody is wrong" is a Chicken Little approach to denying responsibility. What he really means is "I'm poorly trained, ignorant of the subject, and inexperienced, and I don't really care about helping you. I would rather work somewhere else, like a video arcade."
Talk to the owner of the dealership, seriously.... The owner needs to re-evaluate this guy and the whole idea of putting the customer first in all matters. The owner should thank you for bringing this to his attention, since making you mad certainly generates bad publicity for Saab Exchange in this forum. (I certainly would never willingly take my car there.)
The service rep at Barrier who disabled my Upshift Light was positive it could not done, but he cheerfully wrote it up on the work order and tried....and succeeded. He was grateful to me for educating him, not abusive.
The dealer's employees need to realize that the enthusiasts who buy their cars very often are more knowledgable about unusual or hidden features of the cars than they are. One brief look at the AudiWorld.com FAQ will demonstate this phenomenon.
