Is big brother in my Saab?

I just read an article about an insidious "black box" that many mfrs are installing in autos. This device is an open loop recorder that registers speed, pedal position and other inputs for analysis in the event of an accident, although I understand some rental car agencies have been using this data to penalize renters for driving too fast. The article went on to state that there is no requirement for mfrs to disclose the existence of this device to the car buying public.
Apparently, the authorities are now using this data in accident investigation to determine fault as in the case of some ex-governor in S Dakota (Janklow?) who blew through a stop sign and killed a motorcyclist. Lawyers are right behind.
Sidestepping the question of whether this Ashcroftian device is or is not contributing to the betterment of society, my question is, do Saabs have these devices? The article I read stated flatly that "all GM cars" were so equipped. Given the Swedish propensity for social order and conformity, I wonder. Is it hidden in TWICE, THRICE, DICE, NICE or SPICE? Am I being watched?
