Now that winter's approaching, I'm thinking about snow tires and traction on my '00 Aero. So here's the idea...if the ECU reduces the power output of the engine (i.e. limits boost, ignition advance, etc.) when less-than-premium gas is used and if, in winter, judicious use of the throttle causes wheelspin and the traction-control to kick in, does it make sense to use premium gas in the winter? Using the lower octane "regular" would be cheaper and you wouldn't miss the added power since you probably couldn't use it anyway. What's the downside??
