Aero - Car cover & ding protection

Anybody have any good ideas on how the quickest / easiest / most effective way to protect an Aero from dings and scratches when parked in a NYC garage? My current Saab, '90 900 Turbo, has a million small dings and scratches from my neighbors door opening too far and hitting my passenger side door.
I am considering:
a car cover (lightweight and quick to install) -- any recommendations on where to purchase and brand? My concern is that it will be too lightweight in nature and the dings will still occur.
some sort of fender system -- kind of like a boat fender. I tried logging onto beverlymotoring.com b/c I thought I had seen products like this in their catalog but their site must be down. I assume they are still in business and will try again later. Any other ideas?
Moving rug -- what about just draping a heavy duty moving blanket on the passenger side so that if my neighboors door swings too wide, it will hit a padded Aero door?
Any other ideas? I hate knowing that it is a matter of time until the small nicks and dings occur. And, I am sure people are thinking that my neighbor is an ass, etc. but in Manhattan, this is the price you pay to park your car. Not much can be done about it except to protect your own car. No use complaining etc.
Thanks in advance.
