Saab dealer "paint guard" option / other options?

My dealer quickly mentioned that I have a few aftermarket options to decide on when I pick up my new 2001 aero. I do not have the details yet but would appreciate any insight / opinions:
He indicated that there is a "paint guard" that is some sort of sealant that protects the paint and makes it so the car does not require waxing. Anybody know what this is and whether it is worth it or not? He did not know cost but said "around $400" and that the car "never needs waxing". If this is true, it may be worthwhile. However, I recall that years ago dealers use to sell "rust protection" and later reports came out stating that it did more damage to a car than benefit.
I am familiar with paint guards that are plastic bras that cover the front end of the hood so flying debris does not chip the hood. However, that would have zero to do with the entire car not requiring wax.
Any thoughts?
Also, are there any other after market dealer installed options that I should seriously consider?
Thanks,
RF
