I just leased an Aero last weekend and I am so in love with this car. I still have to reassure myself that this is actually mine every time I approach it. I have a relative who works for GM and therefore got the GM affiliate discount (about 10% off MSRP) and by checking this board and talking with people here found out about the $3,000 lease incentive which I got on top of the GM discount (total of $7,000 off MSRP). So for only about $2,000 total out of pocket (CA taxes, registration, acquisition fee and small down) and $480 a month I am driving a sweet car.
With metallic paint and heated seats the car retails for over $41,000 and I got it for just over $34,000 so that was too appealing an offer to pass up.
That lease incentive is a big help. While I don't think the dealer incentives will be worse next month (should get better as Saab rushes to sell remaining 2001 inventory) I do think you'll find that the particular Aero you might want may not be easily available. In my case I wanted something specific: a silver Aero with manual transmission and heated seats with no other options. They did a search and found that exact car at a dealership in Pasadena, CA and had it shipped up to the SF Bay Area from there. If you have specific colors and options you want you should move soon. Most of the dealers I've seen have only one or two Aeros on their lots and sometimes one of them is an automatic!! If you're flexible on the options you could risk waiting another month to see if the offers get even better.
Good luck! Trust me, I have been test driving Aeros since last October and finally acted recently, when you finally have it as your own you'll appreciate even more than you ever did on a test drive. Sitting in that car at night smelling the leather and gawking at the dash is almost like an out of body experience.
