Perhaps you can try a bottle of Techron Concentrate first if you have not done this for a while. If things improve, then fouled injectors were part of the problem.

I don't think the dealers re-gap these plugs, I don't think that Saab pays for that. The whole point of the platinum plugs is to stay clean and have a stable gap. The platiums do not degrade over time like the basic plugs as there electrodes round off. The platinum center electrode is small and thus maintains its sharpness as far a voltage stress concenrations are concerned.

If you are into doing your own plugs. You can have 6 sets of plugs for the cost of a set of factory platinums.

I switched to BCPR7ES11's in my Aero and tried a wider gap as suggested by Doctor Boost and others on the performance BB. I can't feel any advantage to these. The wider gap may avoid some problems that occur only at very high power levels. And the research on an engine dyno at Saab at 300 HP may not apply when using the low volitility RFG-II fuels in the US.

I am going to try a smaller gap in the 7ES's and see whats that is like. I have a nagging feeling that the engine is perhaps a bit sedated with a .040" gap on these plugs.

I also want to modify another set of new 7ES plugs to change the shape of the ground electrode with a dremel tool. I will see if I can get some trapazod(sp) shape to the ground electrode and some other modifications to reduce quench and reduce temperature of the electrode by changing its shape. (Hint, square corners are not optimal). All of this may be a waste of time, but might be interesting to compare plugs on a dyno, which is also not likely to happen.
