I've been doing exactly the same dance, except that I may have my 9-5 longer, and if not I can resell the Nokia's w/better resale than a 2 season old blizzak.

I've heard that the new Blizzak WS-50 goes to a winter tire instead of the older all season tread once past the premium snow tread, and the
Blizzak LM-22 is more the "performance" snow. My take is that if I need a "SNOW" tire, I'm probably better with the WS-50 and if I need a "WINTER" tire, the other make work better most of the time.

But it is the same tradeoff with the Nokian H2 vs WR. I know the H2 is excellent in the snow, deep snow, slush, and ice from many years of experience. I only once got my Acura legend stuck with them; about 1.5 miles down a logging road on our infamous "april fools" storm and that was really more of a clearance issue. (Yeah, don't even ask ;-)) But there are obvious disadvantages the rest of the time. But the tires worked well for 4-5 seasons, with a lot of miles, too.

FWIW, the best bet for pricing I've found for Michelin Alpins or the Blizzak is the Costco / BJ's route, even if you have to pay for a membership. Still looking on the Nokian side for a decent source. If you've got any better idea's let us know!
