I just got this car a few weeks ago. I come from a 1996 Honda Passport. Although SUVs were sort of in their infancy then, Honda should be ashamed to have put their logo on that piece of crap, which is a shame because I had always loved Hondas. The Passport was a worse design, in fact than the 1988 Honda Accord, which I loved. Maybe it's because Isuzu had something to do with it that screwed it up. I suffered and suffered through owning that big, ugly boot!

Anyway, it never occured to me to buy a Saab, nor a wagon. I didn't know anything about them, knew they were pricey (for me at least), and the older styles weren't that attractive to me. But this car is the smartest and best purchase I've ever made (thank you, Mom).Every time I turn around it seems like some new feature almost popped up over night for me to discover!

I have a meeting to go to next week. I'm only going so I can be in my Saab and I'm taking the long way, too. As opposed to the Passport, I love the fact that someone was THINKING when they designed the car. The only thing that would make me buy another brand car in the future, is that it is actually out of my price range. I got mine for cheap because of the high mileage on it. But the first owner obviously loved and cared for it. They even had the original price sticker in the manual case. If they didn't buy a newer Saab, I don't know what tragic event led up to them parting with their Saab. It's quite possible that they had a dog, since the cargo guard is installed and the dog passed away. Perhaps they couldn't stand to drive the car their beloved pet loved, too. If you're the person who owned the car, you bought it in Princeton, NJ, and it's Green Silver Mica w/Beige interior, and that was the case, I feel your pain (as I have been there), and the Saab (named Sage) is in loving hands now. Sage may have a dog coming her way in the future again.

Anyway, to the phone situation. The whole thing is clear as mud. I've called Saab HQ, since the dealer knew nothing, to ask about this whole hands free thing. They said I could use a Nokia 2100, 5100, 6100, 7100, or 6200 (there's probably more), to work with this system. The difficulty is that the dealer gave me a telephone number of this guy that does the installation of all this, but he's not connected with Saab and charges $400 to do it. In addition, I have no idea if it is already installed, as I am the 2nd owner. Do I buy a HF kit for the particular phone? Do I just bring the phone into the car and see if some signal it's supposed to generate mutes the stereo? Although the manual says that Saab has info. on the phone option, you would think they'd have to kill me if they told me. They are extremely vague and evasive about the whole thing. Could somebody help me here? I don't want to spend $400 for this guy to open up my dash to find out it's already been installed.

Thanks!!!
