The transmission holds much more than 3 quarts of ATF. More like 7 to 8 quarts. If you want to remove all of the fluid thats in the torque converter and cooler, bvyou should remove the lower cooler line on the transmission and let the fluid drain. Then put the cooler line into a empty gallon jug and plug the hole in the trans that the cooler line installs into with 3/8 rubber fuel line and plug the other end with a bolt. Start the engine and keep adding trans fluid untill the color of the fluid exiting the cooler line you removed is clean. You may have to empty the gallon jug once or twice. Shut off the engine and reinstall the cooler line in the transmission. Start the engine and re check fluid and add as necessary. Fluid to use? Any Dextron III with a name brand is fine. The reason Saab used Texaco is because thats what they tested the transmission with when they did the R&D. BTW, I change mine every 30K, not 60K.
