Rhonda, at least you don't have to ditch your StarTAC to use the Triad anymore. But you are right -- it isn't cheap (but it certainly is cheaper than the personal calling). With the Saab mount, the Cellport, and the Triad, you are looking at close to $350 in parts, and you still need to have someone install it. But, then again, at the cost of personal calling minutes, it pays for itself pretty quickly if you are a heavy user (like I am).
And if you don't keep the convenience features of OnStar after the first year, that's $200 per year you save automatically (you must pay for the premium service to have personal calling, I believe). I did the math -- not even a close call for me over a 3-year lease.
BTW, it's not much different in price to do the same thing with a Nokia and a Triad -- the StarTAC doesn't significantly alter the price of using a Triad solution.
