Wrong Manuals for Car??

Hi,
I'm very concerned that I might not have the correct manual, safety card, and in-car quick refernece guide for the correct year car that I have. I have this concern because just recently the check enginge symbol light came on when I started my car, but I couldn't find any reference of that symbol in my manual (I finally figured it out thanks to some friends). The manual shows the check engine symbol to be the words check engine, rather than a symbol that is now appearing in my car. Therefore, I'm concerned that all the manuals and other stuff I have referring to my car are for the wrong year. Is there anyone out there that has a 2000 Saab 9-5 that they have had since it was new that wouldn't mind helping me out? Perhaps either scanning in a picture of the cover of the owner's manual, safety card, and in-car quick reference, or describing what they look like on the cover (and also what the copyright year is)?? Any help is appreciated!
Also, how does one check to see what year a car is by just looking at the car itself (without paperwork or manuals)? Thanks!
Sincerely,
Marc
