I did not install per the instructions that came with the part. The basic idea of my steps (going by memory):

1. Remove about 4 plastic fasteners from the carpet that's near the passenger's left leg. (To remove, push the center pin until it "clicks." Then pull out on the outside edge of the larger piece of the fastener. To reinstall the fastener, pull out the center pin completely. Insert the larger piece into the carpet opening and through the hole to which you're fastening the carpet, and insert the center pin and *gently* tap the center pin with a hammer until it "clicks" into place.) IIRC, you will have to remove the piece of carpet attached to the molded boxy-shaped piece of plastic too (more toward the front end of the car still near the passenger's leg). I can't remember if I had to remove the piece in back of the glove box too (to get that molded plastic/carpet piece off). If so, I think it was a few Torx screws.

2. Pull the carpet down to expose the place (hole) where you're going to attach the clip, and into which you will screw-in the cradle. (All you have to do is pull down on the carpet.)

3. Cut away the plastic/vynil piece that's covering the hole for the screw. You'll need a pretty good/heavy cutter for this. It was a lot tougher than I expected it to be.

4. Insert the metal cradle clips between the wood dash trim and the plastic edge. Be *really* careful not to damage the trim. You insert the clips perpindicular to the dash (so the mounting surface of the cradle is approx parallel to, and facing, the driver door, and then turn the cradle to the right so the clips slide under the trim. Do this from the driver side so you can see the trim easily. Again, go slowly and be careful with this step!

5. Screw the thing into place.

6. Lower the cup holder, put your phone in the phone cradle (make sure they don't hit each other), mark your placement of the phone's cradle, drill, screw, etc....

7. I also had to cut one of the carpet tabs approx in half (the one that goes right over the cradle's screw when you put the carpet back in place).

Though this may not be "by the book," it looks and works great.

Marc
