We take our Saab to the Adirondacks for a 10 day vacation every year. With meticulous packing and roof racks we have no problem with our camping gear and a canoe (we rent the canoe when we get there). We have one child (soon to adopt a second) and a dog. Driving the 9-5 through the mountains is an excilerating experience that no suv or minivan can even begin to match. We are considering getting a small (3x5) streamlined cargo trailer to handle the heavey camping gear. But if you are not camping you should have plenty of room. If you get a long narrow roof box you can take along bikes also. You then have the benefit of driving a superbe automobile all year long. By the way, teach you children early to call the car "the Saab", not a car. Our six year old has been trained!
