steering wheel vibes at idle - normal?

Anybody else had this issue? At about 800 rpm idle or in drive or reverse (auto) with brake on, the steering wheel vibrates. Blip the engine up 500 rpm or so and it disappears.
The 9-5 is new to me, so don't know if it's endemic but I tried a 2000 today and it showed the same behavior.
What should the idle rpm be? Seems crazy that low freq. vibes would be acceptable at idle. Any ideas on remedy or do I just live with it?
