I'm neither as passionate nor as knowledgable as my board-mates here (though I am here posting, which is not quite neutral in disinterested of me). But from a purely financial perspective a used Saab is a good buy. USED. Not sure I can say the same for a new Saab wagon--they're pretty steep. I can spend thousands to repair my 2000 wagon (don't plan to, want to, intend to, etc.) and still have a cheaper car than if I'd bought a Volvo of same vintage, to say nothing of BMW. And it's far and away the most comfortable car I've ever driven. It feels good to drive and it's fun to drive.
I drive 300 miles from NYC to Lake Placid 5 or so times a year and I used to wiped out after that drive in my SUbaru wagon. Same drive, 9-5 wagon I feel totally different. More alert, relaxed, less white-knuckle.
Perhaps most important, since besides my wife and myself our most frequent passengers are our daughters, I like that the Saab is a very safe car.
