The oil pan does not have a gasket. It has a sealant applied during assembly.

I change my own oil and when I went in for the free dealer 10K maitenance, I told them that I did my own and to put the Saab oil and filter behind the seat. There was always a copper washer in the box with the filter. So you can do things that way if you wish.

I would change now. This would not affect the appearance of your gasket line issue. Was this 'sign of oil' at the rear of the engine? One might then check to see if there is oil migrating down from the PVC separator etc. Or perhaps some oil was slopped when the engine was first filled at the factory and it has run down.

Myself, I would clean that oil indication off, and if it does not show again in the future, nothing to worry about.
