Picked up a 2000 aero in october with 30000 miles and figured i'd drive it a bit and research the board for some common failures. came up with a long list and decided to call the dealer to get these items fixed before warranty expiration. list included; wiper motor, headlight relay, transmission flush, passenger mirror, front grille and emblem, shifter woodgrain panel, cracks in rain gutters, pcv recall, and sid panel to name a few.
i called the service manager to set up an appointment and he had me tell him my areas of concern over the phone so i just went down the list and he argued almost every point. he said any intermittent problems (headlight relay) would not be covered unless they could duplicate them while at the shop.
the worst part....he said that they could not look at my car until the end of april or beginning of may (it was february at the time). he said they were booked solid. well, i figured i'd give my buddy, who is a mechanic at the shop, all the details and he said he would take it in and do the repairs the next day because he had nothing to do. i now have my car back and am happy again.
i knew dealerships don't like to perform warranty work, but isn't it better than no work at all? its a good thing i don't have to rely on them for all my service.
