I think it will definately help. And I'd like one very soon.
There's an article by a famous writer at the AAA (I can find the article if anybody wants) that said it's better to set the mirror way more outward even if you can't see a part of your own car to eliminate the blind spots. It said there's not much point in putting your own car in the mirror except when you are parking, during which you can move your head to get a better view and there's less risk than while driving on highway with a blind spot.
I have been doing that even before I saw that article. BUT, for some reason, Saab's driver's side mirror doesn't go that much far out to the left. Hence, the convex part will definately help. I think it's more about getting used to it.
