Re: Trunk Lid problem Posted by Paul [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Trunk Lid problem, mlc ![]() ![]() |
Yes, I had a similar problem but it may not be the same as yours. When you press the trunk release either from the car door or the remote with the ignition on do you see the indication on the dash that the trunk is open? Is so then the electronics are working and your problem is mechanical. If not you have a different problem. A mechanical not an electronic problem is what happened to me. The dealer oil and oiled to no avail. Actually he did not believe me that there was a problem. I noticed that the trunk did not release when the ambient temperature was high. It turned out that the latch was installed wrong and we (with the service people concurring so as to avoid any warranty problems) bent the latch a little but to allow the trunk lid to release when the remote was pressed. It has worked perfectly every since. Well not so perfectly since the senor wire to the dash indicator and the trunk light has failed three times. It runs through the flexible rubber tubing near the left side of the trunk lid. The design (poor) is such that the wire rubs when the trunk is opened and closed and eventually breaks. It has been repaired three times already and as we write this it is operational but we do not know for how long.
I hope this information is of some help.
