I personally cannot stand Consumer Reports. I've bought many items that did not do well on Consumer Report's testing and some that did well. They didn't like the Bosch washer/dryer set or the Bosch dishwasher, and I bought these and think they are great. I bought the fanciest Maytag range, which sucks, and CR liked it. CR comes up with some really idiotic tests, which may or may not be anything that you care about. I did buy an Amana/Sears refrigerator which rated highly on CR, but I didn't buy it because CR rated it highly. I bought it for its features, its reliability, and its quiet sounds. CR is well known for some of its "everyone should buy the Ford Pinto" recommendations.

I also bought a Viggen, which most car mags hate. In the last two "shoot outs" I saw, the Viggen or 9-3SE was rated last. But you have to treat any of these articles with suspicion. None of these people actually own these cars and pay for them. Heck, I'd love to have a lot of these cars if I didn't have to pay for them and never really had to do anything but drive them a few times a month.
