True, true and true again...risky business... I've been looking for stick wagons on behalf of a few of my customers and they are indeed the rarest new Saabs. In general folks who are selective enough to want stick wagons can be perceived as finicky. If they were easy going they would have driven the Sentronic with paddle shift and thought that it wasn't too bad. And a dealer isn't interested in trading for a car, a unique car that the dealer is afraid they'll get stuck with, for a selective or finicky person.
Stick wagon folks are savvy people and savvy people won't let the dealer make a decent profit. One of the appeals of a stick wagon is the lower price without the automatic.
Shipping a car is full of traps and pitfalls. The dealer, like you, is buying the car sight unseen. Despite all good knowledge and intentions when the car finally does arrive, and there is no damage or other like problems, it still might not be as envisioned. Stuff happens and there's no way a dealer can make you accept a car if the potential buyer gets spooked for whatever reason.
You'd be better off contacting me, or calling around the area and finding someone who will help you locate the car. And then you'd be better off traveling to the dealer who has the car and buying it from them. That way there won't be any shipping costs, the selling dealer will be moving his inventory and won't be afraid of making you a good deal, and you'll see and drive what your getting so as to avoid all the shipping pitfalls.
And yes, stick shift high line cars are tough to move or take in trade, try the SaabNet classifieds where the enthusiasts shop.
