The V6 was made by GM in the Ellsemere Port factory in England, and also used in non-turbo form in various Opels, including the old Cadillac Catera/Opel Omega, and the Caddilac CTS for the first few years.
This engine is being replaced by the 'Global' V6, which in 3.5 litre form has about 250hpand is used in the Buick lacrosse and Cadillac CTS so far. A turbocharged saab version is slated for the 9-3 aero2 (or 3) with 300hp and AWD, probably for the nextgen 9-5 too.
I think the old V6 is still made for those opels, but it wasnt that popular with the saab afficianado due to the reasonable complaint that it only had 200hp compared to the more powerful and explosiveley tourquey aero, and was always attached to an automatic gearbox, so saab decided a mid power version of the 4 would serve the 9-5 better than attempting to develop an obsolete engine for a couple more years, and the reduced cost of a single 4 cyl engine line is being passed on (in rebates for some reason)
