European delivery has been around for decades. Saab also calls it "IDS", international and diplomat sales.

I won the IDS sales contest last year and got a free trip to Sweden!

Two of the most memorable things you can do in life, a European vacation and buying a new car can be combined. God bless the folks who can do both a the same time.

Right now the hot tip would be European delivery on a convertible as there are no incentives in the USA. For the 9-5 there are mega factory incentives here so IDS might no be such a sweet deal, money wise. It still makes sense for the memorable experience, like driving on the autobahns, and the rental car savings. I know Saab salesfolk who have arranged for a 9-3 Aero Convertible 'cause as I said, without stateside incentives, the IDS price is a real steal.

And right now you get a $2,000 travel allowance instead of the usual $1,000.

Downsides are that for the moment (I hear it's coming soon) there is no Saab financing or leasing availible on IDS. In general it's difficult to finance a European delivery. You'll need a really good relationship with your lender as the car needs to be paid for in full 30 days before pickup and after you drop it off you'll be making payments for 8-12 weeks until your car arrives stateside at your local dealer.

If you can keep the car in Europe for 90 days you avoid sales tax, which saves another couple of thousand here in California.
