I think that 91 octane is the best he can do in California. I have no idea why california restricts octane, or is it the suppliers looking at average drivers' elevations?
Thats the typical octane in KS and we are at around 900 feet elevation here. But Amoco has 92 octane and my Aero runs well on that. I do feel that spiking the octane to 93 does make a difference in power. That increased the cost per tank by around $4.50. So not a great solution for a commuter who just burns fuel at a steady speed. But while I am laid off from work, there is more quality time on city streets and I don't have any rush hour traffic to deal with.
