What were thinking with the front seatbelts?

My Aero is one awesome car but my fiancee is always uncomfortable in it due to the seats feeling uncomfortable (which is a matter of taste as they feel okay to me) and the seatbelt strap always resting along her neck (so a seatbelt cozy does no good, she still has to hold it away from her throat).
Why in the hell did Saab decide to make the front seatbelts non-height adjustable? They are a real pain for some of my passengers. At 6'2" I am fine with their height but shorter folks tend to complain about them. That funky v-shaped slot seems pretty pointless as it won't hold the strap in a lowered position.
Given that the 9-3s have height adjustable belts it would appear that the designers considered the matter and decided to use the nonadjustable ones in the 9-5! I don't get that at all. I may have to place some duct tape across that v-shaped opening to get the belt to stay in a lower position and fit comfortable on my passengers under 6 feet tall.
I sincerely hope they change this feature for 2002. It makes no sense that many people are going to ride uncomfortably in a car that costs this much when almost every other car out there (even those costing 1/3 to 1/4 the price) don't suffer from this annoyance.
