Usually the opposite has been the problem, hence the spacers Saab sells to tighten the gap on most adapters. It sounds like this one may have a slightly larger adapter. See if you can find someone with a radar detector, cell phone, car vac, or something that you can compare with. It does make sense that it would be just as tight in the front as in the back, but shouldn't be the case for various 'appliances.'
