MORE OIL QUESTIONS (YES I KNOW) for 99 9-3 base auto 67k miles in Florida
I have been using Mobil 1 10/30 for about 45,000 miles. Cars runs very well. Did have my headgasket retorqued due to minor seepage. I read all these oil posts and lots of things are debated.
-It appears that most people think that the first number lower leads to better gas mileage. High number better hear protection.
-I live in floida so the 5 as far as cold starts is maybe not as important as for someone in Maine but I still want lots of engine life and would like improved mpgs even though my is fine. So I am thinkin that the 10 should or has been fine correct? But I also see mobil 1 15/50 says for turbo engines specifically. Is that the best oil for a floridian. Or should i look for a 5/40 for more high temp protection and still good start up. Or should I look for a 10/40 mobil 1. Do they even make 5/40 and 10/40. The 5/40 is that the one Dean frequently writes about?
Anyway I have returned all my 10/30 and bought 15/50 but I do not want gas mileage to suffer. Will it? SHould I return it and look for something from above??????
Help. Hopefully you can tell from my rambling that I am confused.
Thanks in Advance
