I usually get about 17 mpg while towing. This varies with terrain. I have had no problems with the car that I could attribute to more wear and tear because of the trailer. An Aero would pull well in the Rockies but you must use the highest octane gas you can get when towing at higher altitudes. Really steep grades should be avoided with FWD. I have climbed some campsite roads that were borderline but managed to navigate to hard packed ground to avoid wheel spin. Most road grades are not a problem. I use 93 octane all the time when towing. I have replaced the rear shocks with Bilstien HDs to give a sharper response. They did improve the handling while towing. Put EBC Green Stuff pads on original rotors but braking was not as good as I wanted in the mountains so when pads were due for replacement I put EBC Sport Rotors and new Green Stuff pads on. Vast improvement with this setup. I chose the 16' Casita since it was what we needed. We had a 23' Motorhome at the time and did not lose much in the change and had to advantage of having the Saab with us at all times. I paid just over 12K for mine. The 17' is too big for the Saab, requires a Class III hitch. There is no body flex with the Saab construction. I use an anti sway bar (friction type) which greatly reduces trailer sway. Tongue weight is done by balancing the load in the trailer using a bathroom scale. I have not wanted to Euro style mirror as the existing one has worked quite well when properly adjusted. I use Mobil 1 15W-50 when towing and all Summer. Change transmission fluid more often particularly if on long trip and fluid has not been changed for a while. E-mail me if you need any more info.
