One or more of your defrost grids are broken and are now arcing causing the static. If you don't live in an area that currently has fog turn on the rear defrost and fog a verticle strip down your rear window with your breath. You will eventually notice that one or more of the defroster lines are not working(your breath fog will dissappear more quickly over the lines that work) If you find the offending grid you will have to look very closely for a tiny break in the coating on the glass(picture a razor cut) We usually just dab a little rear defogger repair paint(part store item) carefully over the spot on the inside of the glass and all is well(I usually do this with the defrost on and the radio on).
