Engine Overheat

Caution light came on my '01 9-5 2.3 lpt (88,500 kms) on Sunday, while car was idling, AC on and 30 degs. Celcius outside temp. Temperature needle went into the 'H' range and fluid in coolant expansion tank boiled over. (Minimal loss of coolant) After allowing the engine to cool for a couple of hours, drove approx 100kms (same outside temp) and engine temperature needle stayed at it's 'normal' position. Can I attribute this incident to the extreme outside temp, plus idling, plus a/c use, or could there some other issue lurking?
Last Friday had my ECU updated to overcome a previous "Check Engine Light Failure" to do with a throttle body issue. Could this be releated?
Thanks,
Steven
