My wife has a 2004 V70 T5 manual & mine is a 2003 Saab Aero sedan.
Both have been flawless so far (volvo= 14K & saab 19K)
the Saab gets better gas milage, is faster & quicker, esier to drive on the freeway
The Volvo clutch-gas-shifter mechanism makes smooth shifting difficult. This is the first car ever in which I don't like a manual tranny (the manual was a special order as none was available in the US- perhaps they're right.)
Both are reasonably quiet, the Volvo is a little softer w/ 55 series tires rather than the Aero's 45s
I disagree about the sound system, we all think the Saab sound is superior (maybe the difference in wagon vs sedan) & the Volvo controls need too much eye contact. Agree that the Volvo a/c seems to do a better job. Seats are individual selection.
Both are fine cars, but I like driving the Saab much more. Buy the Saab.
